Photograph it like our buyers see it.
Your photos are the appraisal. Six shots per bottle (all from a phone, two minutes each) give us everything we need to quote accurately the first time, with no back-and-forth.
Six shots, two minutes.
Front label, straight on
Fill the frame with the bottle, label facing the camera squarely. This is the shot that identifies the bottle: name, age statement, proof.
Back label and any codes
Turn the bottle around. Back labels carry release years, batch numbers, and laser codes near the base, details that can change a quote meaningfully.
Fill level, at eye level
Hold the bottle upright at eye level so we can see exactly where the whiskey sits: in the neck, top shoulder, mid shoulder. Fill is one of the biggest condition factors on older bottles.
Capsule and seal, up close
A close shot of the top: the capsule, the seal, any tax strip. We're checking it's intact and original, so don't twist or test it yourself.
Box, tube, tag, or bag
If it came with packaging, photograph it next to the bottle. Original packaging travels with the bottle and can add to the offer.
The group shot
Selling several? One wide shot of everything together helps us understand the lot before we zoom into the bottle photos.
What “good enough” actually looks like.
These are photos from our own intake table, the same standard your phone shots feed into. Notice what they are: plain background, even light, label legible, nothing artistic. That’s the whole bar.
Every photo you upload with the form can be tagged to a specific bottle on your list, which is how a 20-bottle estate gets quoted quickly instead of in a week of emails.
Use window light
Daylight from a window beats any lamp. Turn the flash off. It glares off glass and hides the label.
Plain background
A counter or table is perfect. We're not judging your kitchen; a busy background just hides bottle edges.
Don't stage, don't clean
Dust is information. Wiping an old bottle can damage the label. Send it exactly as found.
Sharp beats artistic
Tap to focus on the label. One sharp, boring photo outquotes five moody ones.
